How to capture your picture in one artistic shot

If you're a budding photographer like me then you'll want to know great ways of capturing photos.
In this post I'll go over the different types of photos, photographers and effects.

Types of photo

There are many different types of photos;

  1. Nature (trees, squirrels, plants, flowers..)
  2. Scenic (waterfalls, desserts, anything you see on holiday outside your hotel window)
  3. The Pets (your pet dog, fish, a bird in your garden)
  4. People (your best friend, family, a random person on the street)
  5. Action (running, sports day photos, jumping off a high wall)
  6. Objects (weird and wonderful things, books, clothes..)

Your photo could fit into any of those slots, but it's sure to be in one. (note- they're not in any order). Sometimes we go in search of the perfect photo, if we want a great new profile picture for a website, or we just happen to stumble on the best scenario imaginable. For example the photo I took below, I was just brushing my teeth one morning and I noticed how beautiful the frost was. Thing is- it takes a lot of patience for a great photo; you have to wait for anyone walking by to stop, you have to make sure your hands are steady and that the person/thing doesn't move so the photo is blurred (unless you're going for that effect).

Effects

Greyscale- possibly the most flattering type of effect. I love it because it shows up the light and makes it look a little more authentic. It doesn't always work for some photos like when a colour is the main focus of the picture but when a person or a plain scenery is in your camera- it's perfect. It's really hard to describe what greyscale does for a photo- it's just beautiful.

The photo on the left is greyscale, and the one on the right is not.
Popart-Quite hip, cool and funky. Especially seeing as RETRO is cool nowadays. I think this popart effect is great for some photos of you and your friends pulling funny photos or your dog smiling- but it RUINS landscape photos! It's Andy Warhol style and very funky.

I could go on- the effects that are possible on a camera are endless especially the computer editing software on laptops! Just keep snapping and trying out different effects.
Remember- a photo isn't just a picture of you or your friends looking gorgeous- it's a memory, a snapshot of your mind to share with other people. Lol, that sounds really..artistic- but it's true.

If you always have a camera out, you're sure to get one fantastic shot of whatever the object is.
I'll leave you with this picture...
